Some Special Kind of Idiots Recorded Themselves Surfing on a Whale Shark [VIDEO]

Marine Connection

Surfing on a whale shark might sound like fun, but…come on man.

In a fairly crazy video that has recently hit the Internet, a group of friends recorded themselves surfing on a whale shark while it was trying to feed on plankton behind a boat.

It’s too bad whale sharks are docile, because Lord knows another species wouldn’t put up with this crap.

Unfortunately, whale sharks are not protected by this type of behavior around the United States because they are actually fish, not whales or dolphins which do have harassment protection.

Whale sharks are classified as vulnerable by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), so they are a commercially protected fish, but in counties like the Philippines, Taiwan and India, they are actively hunted.

Maybe one day whale sharks can be globally protected and stunts like this video can be a thing of the past, or until a whale shark eventually has enough and takes matters into its own hands, or, well…flippers.
