Soul River is something that we all can get behind.
Chad Brown, a veteran from Clackamas, Oregon has been battling with anxiety and depression since returning home from combat. After discovering fly fishing, his symptoms of PTSD suddenly subsided. At that point, Brown felt a calling from the river to show the healing effects of the river to others. Soul River, a not-for-profit that connects other veterans with inner city kids to fly fishing, was born.
In this coverage of Brown and Soul River by KGW Portland, you can see the power of fly fishing yourself.
When you see all the good that Brown is doing, the fact he is doing it all at no charge is extra special. All fly fishermen know the effects the river has on our lives. In amazing situations like this, it makes it even more profound.
