You have one job: throw the stuffed rat for the owl or else.
Somebody with a pet owl has it conditioned to react to the stuffed toy. Now it seems like they better throw it or deal with an angry bird of prey.
You wanted a pet owl now play with it or else.
I’m with you: birds like this one should be free to fly the skies and have a happy life outdoors, but birds of prey have been kept as domesticated animals for centuries the difference being that they are used as hunting partners not for a goofy indoor pet.
Having said that, if it’s well cared for, what’s the big deal? Contact your local raptor center, like Wild Wings in NY and support the good folks who rescue and care for these animals every day… indoors!
