What would your reaction be to seeing a black bear swimming?
Make sure it was going the other way? Snap a photo or take a video? Run?
Matthew Garrity took the video, but not the way most people would.
Garrity saw the black bear swimming on Hemlock Lake in upstate New York. So, he grabbed his camera—and his kayak—and paddled out to the creature.
He says that only once did the bear look at him and his kayak. The rest of the time, Garrity says the bear just swam for shore.
Oh, and the heavy breathing in the video? The bear, not Garrity.
Although he does say that he had a lot of adrenaline flowing through his body.
