A brewery in Green Bay, Wisconsin had a snowy owl visitor last week. Now they’ll name a beer after their rescued feathered friend.
The owner of Titletown Brewing Company was surprised to find a visitor in an unused smokestack on the brewery’s property. A snowy owl had gotten itself stuck inside the abandoned building.
The owner called the Department of Natural Resources and the snowy owl is now recovering at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. It is thin but in good health.
There have been numerous snowy owl rescues in the area, which is slightly unusual for Green Bay.
“There’s a lot of different theories,” said Lori Bankston of the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. “There’s a lot of research going on, but it’s pretty unusual. This is the fourth snowy owl that we’ve gotten in now in the last couple of weeks, but this one was in a lot better shape.”
Titletown Brewing Company will release an IPA called Snowy Session Owl IPA to remember their visitor. 50 cents of every pint will go to the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
