This man filmed a drastic ‘sneaker wave’ on the Oregon Coast just in time to get out of the way.

Filmed recently in Coos Bay, Oregon, this video illustrates the powerful nature of a ‘sneaker wave.’

Check out this footage, which starts off like any other day at the beach, but ends with the sudden appearance of the surprise wave.

According to reports, a “Sneaker Wave” is one that will “run abnormally far up the beach after a long period of smaller waves, and can seemingly come from out of nowhere to pull unsuspecting beach-goers into the frigid Pacific waters.”

You have to agree with this guy when he reflects on the ‘sneaker wave’ saying it was, “A little more excitement than I bargained for there.”

If you’re planning a trip to the Pacific Northwest soon, remember what you saw in this video and stay vigilant in regards to ‘sneaker waves.’ Getting caught off guard by these wave is no day at the beach.
