Square ranges are awfully limiting. As Kevin Michalowski from USCCA points out in the video below, they place all manner of limits on what you can do within your assigned lane.
Drawing and firing from a holster is almost always verboten. Rapid fire? Some allow it, some don’t. And by their nature, none of them let you move around enough to practice as you need to for real-world situations. But that doesn’t mean you can’t accomplish something when an indoor range is all you have.
Training for self defense is as important as ever, so figuring out how to train at more restrictive ranges is vital.
