6-Foot Alligator in Massachusetts Backyard Raises Concern, Police Remove

Know what your neighbor has lurking in their backyard? Could be a 6-foot alligator!

Whatever happened to simply owning a cat or dog? Acting on a tip, police were dispatched to an address in West Springfield, Massachusetts on August 5, only to discover a six-foot long alligator in the backyard.

With the help of two local zoo workers, the alligator was safely captured and taken to the zoo.

The animal was estimated to weigh between 150 and 180 pounds. Police state the backyard was fenced in.

The case has been turned over to the Massachusetts Environmental Police for further investigation.
