Short Film Captures the Fun and Frustrations of an Open-Country Elk Hunt

elk hunt

Join Chad Dotson on a challenging, open-country elk hunt.

There’s probably nothing as challenging as bowhunting completely open country without a single tree or piece of cover in sight. But that’s just what Chad Dotson of the Hurwal Collective does in this elk hunt. The bulls are plenty and large, but sneaking up on them is another matter altogether.

This awesome little short film captures all the frustrations before his eventual hard work pays off.

This is how most successful hunts always seem to play out. You set up planning for one thing, but success in hunting often comes from a place you least expect it and in a way that is equally unexpected. That’s definitely the case here as this bull sneaks up behind Chad and Jon.

While hunting open high desert like this looks like it has plenty of challenges and frustrations, it had to be satisfying to nab that bull after all the trouble they went through for it.

Congrats on a great and very unique bull Chad, and thanks for bringing us along for the fun ride!
