Shed Hunting Tip: Safe and Simple Antler Trap

Make a safe and simple antler trap using hay bails.

Depending on your region, shed hunting season is in full swing. If you’re like me, you don’t have a lot of time to put many miles on your hiking boots to find treasured antlers. By making this trap, you may find more antlers and in much less time.

Take a look at this antler trap design.

The hay bails are a nice easy alternative to wire traps that are a little more popular. Hypothetically, the buck’s antler will get stuck in the hay while going to eat the bait. If the antler is close to plopping off, the hay should do the trick.

Head to the barn and grab a few bails of hay and you’ll be good to go with this safe and simple antler trap.
