Shark Angels is on a mission to protect sharks and the oceans. Short films like this help change people’s perspectives on the mighty creatures.
The water is crystal clear and the movements of the players almost balletic. Humans interact respectfully, yet comfortably, with massive sharks in this powerful video.
Shark Angels is a marine advocacy group that says its mission is to lead “a positive, contagious movement to save sharks – and the oceans. We are a passionate, global community that believes in the power of education, media and local grassroots campaigns. We raise awareness to the critical issues, educate children, change perspectives, and empower and connect advocates to act locally to save sharks and the critical ecosystems they support.”
Short films like “Change Your Perspective” are an integral part of the Shark Angels effort.
This film does indeed present sharks, often seen and misunderstood as simple killing machines, in a different light, as they move calmly and with seeming intelligent awareness of the humans who welcome their presence.
It’s one of the more beautiful marine videos online right now.
Shark Angels is involved with several campaigns to educate and advocate for marine conservation issues and events.
They promote and assist with classroom events for kids, educate people on the effects of commercial nets on shark populations, campaign via their Fin Free movement against the slaughter of sharks to meet the growing demand for shark fin. They also have an Adopt-A-Shark program.
Shark Angels identify themselves: “We are the next generation of shark conservationists, working independently and as a network of angels to bring about change. Because sharks need all the guardian angels they can get.”
