Recently, Stehen Dowding from Toronto spent part of the day fishing off Los Cabos, Mexico.
Dowding, along with other members of the fishing group, spent four hours on the water, waiting for a bite, and saw nothing. That is, until they were heading back into the harbor. That’s when a sea lion decided to hitch a ride and see what was on the menu.
“As we began trawling back to the harbor, all of a sudden this big sea lion popped out of the water and jumped onto the back of our boat looking for food,” Dowding said. “We started feeding it the left overs from the trip, and when he had enough, he just jumped back into the water.”
Somehow, the sea lion was able to hold onto the back of the boat. One of the party fed the curious creature while Dowding took photos.
“It was a pretty neat experience,” said Dowding. “I definitely was not expecting it and to be honest was a wonderful surprise.”
Sea lions have more recently become known as the dogs of the sea, and this sea lion proves why with a good reason. It’s a wonder the pal didn’t climb aboard further after earning his treat with his trick.
