Is this really the new world record turkey, shot this week in Kentucky?
On April 21, 2015, Cody Guess, of Kuttawa, Kentucky harvested a possible new world record turkey. The bird was reportedly taken on the family farm in Lyon County with a supposed weight of 37.6 pounds. The previous world record falls in at 36 pounds.
The bird had a 9 3/4 inch beard with 1 1/4 inch spurs to go along with it.
Birds of this weight are nearly unheard of, so the specimen and situation will be thoroughly examined through the National Wild Turkey Federation. The confirmation process is underway and only time will tell if his bird will truly be the new world record or not.
Stay tuned to this space for more as it develops.
