Remember That Time a Float Plane Took off from a Moving Trailer?

This float plane takeoff from the Saskatoon International Airport is the coolest thing you’ll see all day!

The Mitchinson Flight Centre launched a float plane at the Saskatoon International Airport from atop a trailer hitched up to a pickup truck in the most amazing way you may have ever seen.

Even though this procedure has been done for many years, now you can get to see how the big boys fly a plane off of a ‘dolly’ and into the air during the summer months.

The Mitchinson Flight Centre made the comment that “Some years we leave it parked/dry docked on floats near a lake, some years we put it back on wheels to use it for training or do maintenance over the winter. Trouble is there’s no lakes near the YXE airport so it’s easier to just put it back on floats in our hangar, then fly it out off a dolly”

Big thanks to the Saskatoon International Airport Facebook page for sharing this unique video for so many of us that never got to see this amazing procedure before!
