A rare oarfish sighting in Baja during a Shedd Aquarium adventure trip produced this great video.
The oarfish showed up in shallow waters, near the beach where several people were gathered, enjoying the day paddling kayaks and swimming in the Pacific.
You may remember another oarfish found in California back in October, with a total length of 18 feet. While this oarfish is certainly smaller, it’s still respectably large.
Check out the footage from the Shedd Aquarium’s YouTube Channel and view this elusive and amazing underwater creature.
That very well may be the best footage of a live oarfish ever recorded. The views on the YouTube video speak for themselves.
It appeared as though the fish was trying to beach itself, as we see a beach goer slide it back into the deeper water with a paddle in the first moments of the clip.
Revered as the largest bony fish in the world, the oarfish is one of those living things that absolutely amazes.
