Python Needed Surgery After Rooster Foot Punctured Its Stomach

Reptiles Magazine

Sometimes the snake doesn’t get the last laugh, as was the case of this python with a rooster foot sticking out of its stomach.

An Australian vet, Dr. Nikki Tapp, performed emergency surgery on a python that was in serious trouble after a rooster foot poked its way through the python’s stomach.

It seems the python swallowed the rooster whole, but did not realize the repercussions of trying to pass those crazy talons down its body.

Dr. Tapp opened the snake up during emergency surgery and had to cut the foot off the rooster in the stomach of the snake so it would continue passing.

Not one to deny a snake its hard-earned meal, Dr. Tapp left the whole rooster in the python’s belly so that when it came to, it would still be full.

The python survived and was released following its digestion of the huge rooster.
