Check out how Project Healing Waters is helping our veterans connect with nature.
Project Healing Waters is a volunteer effort that teaches military veterans fly fishing, fly tying, and ultimately takes them out on a river.
Have a look at this short film that highlights this important program that gives back to veterans for their service to country.
This is a great program that was started by a veteran, and helps active duty and retired military members recover from visible and non-visible injuries. I had the privilege to be involved in a similar, all-volunteer program that took veterans out hunting, and the experience cannot be matched.
I encourage all outdoors-persons to consider taking a little time and resources to volunteer and give back by leveraging the outdoor pursuit they love. It can be for programs like Project Healing Waters, for youth-mentored hunting, or other programs that introduce people to outdoor sports. You will be doing a good turn for your fellow citizens.
