Pro Bass Angler Matt Lee rescues capsized boaters in the middle of a Bassmasters Elite Series tournament.

Pro Bass Angler Matt Lee discovered a pair of capsized boaters while traveling across Wheeler Lake during a Bassmasters Elite Series tournament in Alabama.

The scene unfolds on camera as the two humble men cling to the hull of their boat, as one says, “I know y’all are probably in a tournament…” The men had called for help, but their phone got wet and stopped working so search and rescue couldn’t ping their location on the lake.

Luckily they were wearing life jackets, and Lee just happened to come upon them. Lee and his tournament co-angler stopped and made room for the two men to come aboard, taking them to safety.

Originally from Cullman, Alabama, Lee served as president on the Auburn University Bass Fishing Team during 2011-2012. During his junior year at Auburn, he won the BASS College Bracket, allowing him to compete in the 2013 Bassmaster Classic.

The following year his brother won the BASS College Bracket, allowing him to compete in the 2014 Bassmasters Classic. Within the next year, the two began fishing on the Bassmasters Elite Series, becoming the first brothers in the history of the sport to qualify for the series in the same year.
