Predation in the Life Cycle: Big Fish vs. Little Fish [VIDEO]

VIMEO/Stellwagen Media

Throughout nature, one species is the predator and another is the prey.

This life cycle is known as predation. In the water, when the weather turns colder, prey fish gather together in preparation to move to more hospitable environments.

That, my friends, is when the predators feed.

To some, it may seem cruel that some species are prey while other are predators, but that’s nature. The predator-prey relationship exists, even in herbivores. In that case, the plant is the prey, unable to defend itself except for its natural defense mechanisms.

And as the video shows, prey animals aren’t helpless. They have many defense mechanisms in order to avoid predators. Just ask any angler how many fish have thrown his hook.
