Will This Smartphone-Controlled Underwater Drone Revolutionize Fishing?

Introducing PowerRay, a new technology revealed at CES that could redefine recreational fishing.

Now, what exactly is a PowerRay? Well it's an underwater robot built by PowerVision and designed for anglers. This thing takes drone fishing to a whole different level: the robot can dive as deep as 98 feet and comes with a sonar system that can detect fish up to 40 meters away.

This all sounds sweet, but how do I control this thing? From your phone. That's right, it has a smartphone app for your convenience.

Just watch the video below.

So, you can see what the craft sees from your phone or tablet, possibly a VR headset, as well as easily switch to between the 4K display to the depth finding option. All in a robot that weighs under 15 lbs with accessories!

The catch is we have to wait until the end of February to buy one. Pricing has also not been released. Personally, I'm more on the "just shut up and take my money" train right now.

To the people reading this and thinking "This raises ethical questions" or "This will ruin the sport," I wonder, is this any different from an underwater camera or a fish finder? This device really just changes the screen everything's displayed on.
