Polar Bear and Sled Dog Share Awwwsomely Tender Moment in Manitoba

polar bear petting a dog

A fierce polar bear petting a diminutive dog? This is one must-see moment that will make you melt.

Talk about the most unlikely of couples. Yet, for a formidable polar bear and a rare breed of sled dog, sharing a tender moment in the harshest of winter climates seems, well, kind of right.

The incredible interaction, captured on film by David De Meulles in Churchill, Manitoba, is about as rare as it gets. It all happened the weekend of November 12, when De Meulles drove two clients out to the property of Brian Ladoon in hope of spotting some polar bears.

The area is known to have bears wandering through. It is also home to Ladoon’s rare breed of Canadian sled dogs, which he has been raising on the land for more than 4o years.

Prepare yourself to watch a polar bear pet a dog.

Did that not make your heart melt? Talk about an amazing and rare moment to witness.

We’re glad De Meulles had his phone handy. Because really, who would honestly believe this actually happened without some sort of proof?!
