Every family has a venison jerky recipe they swear by, but this one truly does take the cake.
It’s not easy to try and convince someone that one venison jerky recipe is better than another, but you have to trust us on this one. This sweet and spicy venison jerky combines flavors that anyone will love, from your youngest to your grandfather.
In fact, you might even get asked for it from anyone who takes a bite. Here’s the recipe so you can share it with your family, or keep it to yourself. We won’t tell anyone what you decide.
- 1 pound venison, cut into 1/4-inch thick strips
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbs ground black pepper
- 1 tbs onion powder
- 1 tbs garlic salt
- 1 tbs lemon juice
- 3 1/2 tbs liquid smoke flavoring
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 1/2 tsp hot sauce
- 1/2 c Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 c teriyaki sauce
- 1/3 c soy sauce
For this recipe, which only takes about 5 minutes to prep, whisk together the seasonings and sauces in a bowl. Add the venison strips and marinate for 24 hours in the refrigerator. Be sure to mix around the venison every few hours to be sure the marinade absorbs completely.
After 24 hours, remove the strips and squeeze off the excess. Arrange the strips in a food dehydrator and dry on high for four hours. Alternatively, you can place it in 160-degree oven for about six to eight hours. The venison should bend without breaking – that’s how you know it’s perfect.
