Pending Second Largest Pope & Young Non-Typical Buck of All Time Shot in Ohio [PICS]

Dan Coffman’s buck has gone crazy on social media with its potential to be the second largest all-time non-typical buck shot with a bow.

Dan Coffman of Junction City, Ohio has erupted in the social media hunting community by shooting the biggest free-range whitetail buck in the United States this season. In fact, it’s said to gross score over 300 inches while netting 286 inches.

If the score holds up it will be the second largest Pope & Young buck of all time.

Break TV first covered the news about the Ohio giant and had this to say;

Congratulations to The Break Team Hunter, Dan Coffman, on his world class whitetail!!! Yes, it is 100% free range. More pics to come so stay tuned!!! #‎BBD‬ ‪#‎bowhunting‬ #‎deerhunting

Many official details are still lacking, but the buck is rumored to gross score around 300 inches, according to a close source. Steve Esker, a friend of Dan had this to say about the giant Ohio whitetail:

I had the pleasure of taking the photos of Dan’s deer all morning. What a giant, he has junk going in every direction, he is tipping the edge of the 300 mark, I really hope it stays up there. I know Dan well and his commitment to chasing this deer the last two years has absolutely drained him. He has prepared well and hunted hard to get that once in a lifetime chance and it paid off big time! Many congratulations are coming your way, Dan. Awesome, awesome, awesome buck, glad I was a part of it all!

Dan Coffman said that everyone was really missing the best picture, though. The one with his son.

The actual hunt will be featured in an episode airing in the third quarter of 2016 on “The Break TV.” The buck may also turn out to be the largest free-range whitetail shot with a bow on camera.

The Ohio DNR was present during the recovery, but have not released details about the once-in-a-lifetime buck.

Many pieces of the puzzle are slowly coming together. Midwest Whitetails tweeted:

Congratulations Dan Coffman, for your buck of many lifetimes.

The hunting community looks forward to learning all the details of the hunt and buck. Even if the score is not correct, this is an amazing buck and a true feat of a lifetime.
