Treven Anspach’s last action in this world saved the life of a fellow Umpqua Community College student. His life and legacy were honored by a trout fishing tournament at Cooper Creek Reservoir.

The 20 year old UCC student moved closer to a classmate after being shot himself in order to protect her from the killer. She credits his final act of selflessness for saving her life.

In addition to his love for basketball and soccer, Treven was an avid fishermen. The Oregon communities of Oakland and Sutherlin decided to organize a fishing fundraiser for his family that reflected his passion. Watch how they used the outdoors as a way to memorialize him and also support his family.

Proceeds from the event are going to Treven’s parent’s to help defray the cost of funeral expenses.

If you’re interested in helping his family, visit their GoFundMe page.  You can also listen to the song ‘Only Memories Remain‘ written and performed by his basketball coach. The song will be available for purchase on Itunes. Proceeds from those sales will be directed to Treven’s family also.
