It took three years for an Ontario woman to snap a clear shot of the elusive piebald deer nicknamed ‘Snowpants.’ We’re happy she did.
Tammy Dallyn, a resident of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, has waited years to get a clear shot with her camera of ‘Snowpants.’ She finally accomplished that feat.
Dallyn nicknamed the frequent visitor to her yard ‘Snowpants’ many years ago, as the moniker seemed to fit the whitetail deer.
As the image shows, the lower half of his body—and especially rear legs—are lily white.
Piebald is an inherited genetic trait. It can range from a slight amount of white hair to almost totally white coats. In the case of ‘Snowpants,’ he is approximately 60 percent white.
Piebald deer are considered to be quite rare and catching a glimpse of one is certainly cause for celebration. Having one frequent your backyard regularly, however? Pretty amazing!
