Two mature bull elk in a fight to the finish have no idea that a bowhunter is on them at full-draw.
It would be astounding enough to see two mature bull elk fight each other in the field. It would be even more amazing to have an elk tag and your bow in your hand.
Well this is what that scenario looks like for real!
There’s a lot to be said here for several reasons.
First of all, this hunter filled his tag and that’s always reason to celebrate! As to whether or not you should shoot an animal in the throes of its natural act, don’t we do that every single time?
They come in to a call, scent, or because we hunted near food or bedding, right? Does the hunter deserve a bad name for happening upon two brawling bulls, or is it the guide’s responsibility?
Honestly, stuff happens, and you take the good with the bad. How many times have we come out of the field after seeing nothing?
These guys were fortunate enough to have seen this, and because they were in the right place at the right time, they scored big.
