We don’t know if the beach goers actually requested that dead crab, but it sure was nice of the octopus to leave it for them.
Octopi have been known to traverse short distances outside of their aquatic environments, and have even managed to escape tanks and enclosures on occasion.
This red octopus makes its home in the tide pools at the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, alongside harbor seals, sea urchins, starfish, and a host of other incredibly interesting sea creatures.
But we’d have to say the red octopus takes the cake.
