A pheasant decoy sting operation in northern New York apprehended three people illegally shooting from their vehicle.
Environmental Conservation Officers used a pheasant decoy in a sting operation in the town of Canton, St. Lawrence County. Officers Joel Schneller and Michael Sherry planted the decoy and watched as three people illegally shot from their vehicle.
The three illegal hunters were charged with discharging a firearm over or from a public highway and possessing a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle.
While road-hunting for pheasant is legal in some U.S. states, the state of New York does not tolerate the practice.
