Authorities encourage consumers to think twice before buying their next iPhone case, especially if it looks like a gun.
Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office (OCPO) is advising the public to think twice before purchasing a gun-shaped iPhone case. On Monday morning, OCPO posted a photo example of the phone case and how it may look to someone walking by, specifically local law enforcement.
Although the gun-shaped phone case is not illegal, officials are stating that purchasing and carrying this item around with you is not a good idea.
As you can see by the photo, the gun is not easy to identify as fake when it is tucked away in someone’s pocket. Mistaking a phone case for a handgun in New Jersey can also cause an array of other problems, especially considering that the state has some of the strictest gun laws in the country.
The phone cases are currently being sold on Amazon and come in both silicon and plastic materials.
