Nebraska Hunters Can Donate Deer to Those in Need Sept. 1

Justin Hoffman

The Hunters Helping the Hungry program lets you donate unneeded game.

Beginning September 1, the Hunters Helping the Hungry program will be accepting deer donations at 19 processing plants. An additional two plants will join the program on November 14.

The program provides ground venison to Nebraskans in need. It is funded by tax-deductible donations and hunters pay no processing costs when they donate deer.

Only whole deer in good condition can be accepted and hunters may keep the antlers, head, and cape (check with the processor first).

More information about the program, and a list of participating processors, can be found here. You may also contact program coordinator Teresa Lombard at (402) 471-5430 or teresa.lombard@nebraska.gov.
