Mystery of the Blue-Headed Black Bear in British Columbia [VIDEO]

A black bear with a bright blue head? The unlikely sight is leaving residents of Mission, British Columbia, scratching their own heads.

Aaron Smith did a double take Sept. 1 while driving past Silvermere Lake. A mother black bear, her head colored a bright blue, was feeding out in the open with her two cubs.

As always, Smith had his camera with him and was able to record the incredible sight.

Theories abound as to what caused the blue coloring, with some suggesting the bear could have set off a trap set with paint, or dipped its head into a Porta-Potty that had been treated with a colored liquid.

Conservation officers have their own theory: the curious bear simply dipped its head into a can of paint.

Whatever the case may be, the brightly-colored bear has caused quite a stir in the community.

As for Smith – it’s an incredible encounter he won’t soon forget!
