Mountain Lion Likes This California Backyard Pool

Maybe it’s the easy access. Maybe it’s the chlorine. Whatever the reason, a mountain lion in California keeps returning to a backyard pool.

The pool belongs to Jason Reid of Murrieta. He set up a trail cam in his backyard to get images of the animal, as you can see in the news clip below.

Yes, the image of a mountain lion near your pool can be disturbing, but the California Department of Fish and Wildlife says it’s not a cause for concern.

“They don’t want anything to do with people,” says Andrew Hughan, a spokesman for the department. “If you see a mountain lion, you should consider yourself lucky because they’re very shy.”

He also reminds folks that when you live in “mountain lion territory,” you’re bound to see one at some point.

Hughan also says the likelihood of an attack on humans is very small. The big cats will, however, go after pets and livestock. They have also attacked children.

Still, maybe the animal on the trail cam just wanted a private swim, and it’s hoping the camera will go away.
