Honey, There’s a Mountain Lion Snacking on the Front Porch

Peter Rauenbuehler

Mountain lions often go unseen. In fact, in most California towns, it is rare to get up close and personal with wildlife, let alone a mountain lion (no, pigeons don’t count).

Suburbanites, in general, are not your typical “outdoorsy” types. Laughably,  one California town considers themselves terrorized by turkeys!

That’s not so much the case for one family. ABC7 News reports that a mountain lion decided to help himself to a deerone helping herself to the family’s potted plants on the porchand they caught it all on video.

We’ll ignore the questionable amounts of foliage on the front porch because of the fantastic video capture. Attempting a stealthy stalk, the mountain lion’s eyes in the pitch dark are the first to give it away. Once the homeowners flip the full lights on, the mountain lion gave a quick look around and performed a wildlife version of drive-through with the dead deer.
