A California mother was shocked to find a shark photobomb in a picture she snapped last Friday in Los Angeles.
Julie Emerson took the picture without realizing that a sizable shark, or something that looks like one, was swimming in a wave breaking near her twelve-year-old son Quinn and his friend while they were surfing at Manhattan Beach.
Here’s the picture.
Julie showed the photo to several local lifeguards and surfers who believe the image was indeed that of a shark.
Not wanting to frighten her son and his friend, Julie told them it was a dolphin.
“I told my kids it was a dolphin, as we live at the beach and are in the waters here almost daily,” Julie Told KTLA.
But the jury’s out on whether or not this was a shark, a dolphin or something else entirely.
Locals have spotted a number of great white sharks in and around the waters of Manhattan Beach in recent years. Great whites can be extremely dangerous if they feel threatened.
Check out this video of a marine accidentally catching in a great white on a beach near San Diego.
Anglers are not allowed to catch great whites in California, as the state considers them a protected species.
