Monster Alligator Gar Landed From the Illinois River by Bowfishermen

This huge alligator gar was really caught in the Illinois River!

The Illinois River is more commonly known for silver carp. Yeah, the fish that fly in the air... But recently a video was posted with the location of East Peoria, Illinois.

A two-man fishing team fought and landed a humongous alligator gar after a lengthy fight.

Watch the video below.

The battle for the alligator gar was pretty impresive. The two were able to finagle the fish into the boat even with the many things going wrong.

The Illinois DNR has been reintroducing alligator gar into multiple bodies of water and it's clear the population is coming back. Part of the reintroduction strategy is to help control the Asian carp population throughout the river system.
