Specific public lands will be opened up for the Minnesota deer hunting season, according to a DNR announcement on Monday.
The DNR has announced the Lake Alexander Scientific & Natural Area in Morrison County will be open for the Minnesota deer hunting season.
Minnesota deer hunting will be allowed in two of the units of the Lake Alexander area, and archery will be allowed in one.
The factors contributing to these alterations include the part of the Lake Alexander area that has been open for Minnesota deer hunting by acquiring a special permit. This expansion will hopefully reduce the damage to young trees caused by deer. The special permits were also costly to administer.
Public hearings regarding these Minnesota deer hunting changes took place last April and May, and were followed by a public comment period.
These changes have taken effect with publication in the State Register on Monday.
