Is That a Military Rifle Chambered in .410 Shotgun Shell? Why, Yes, It Is

Ever see a military rifle turned into a .410 shotgun?

Well, Ian from Forgotten Weapons found one.

This Ishapore Enfield Rifle is not your ordinary military arm by a long shot.

What do you think of when you imagine the perfect riot shotgun? Would it be a 12 gauge pump action shotgun or similar large gauge that can fire multiple projectile types? Well, this one just doesn’t fit into that category very well.

The Indian Army wanted a cheap mass produced ‘riot gun.’ They chose the Ishapore Enfield Rifle and made some modifications. It now shoots .410 caliber 2.5 inch shells and is a single shot.

How is that a riot gun? Well, it’s not exactly what we would pick, but to each their own.

Watch this in depth examination by Ian from Forgotten Weapons on this interesting ‘riot gun.’
