Massive Prehistoric Hybrid Gar Caught in Texas

Hybrid gar sure are ugly. 

It seems these days that giant alligator gar are very newsworthy. Every time one is caught, it makes the rounds all over social media. Well, in this case, a hybrid gar has been caught out of Texas and this thing is one dinosaur-looking fish. In case you are curious, a hybrid gar is a mix between a longnose and alligator gar. On average, they over 100 pounds and about six feet long.

Yeah, I want one of those those. Two fish I want catch at some point in my life is a white sturgeon, then followed shortly thereafter by an alligator gar. It doesn't have to be in that order. However, if I happened to luck into a hybrid gar, I wouldn't turn that down either.

Out of all gar species that exist, it's been said that these hybrid gar are the rarest and hardest ones to catch. On that note, a big congratulations is in order for the angler in the video. A fish like that may never be caught again.
