If you have ever said you would never shoot a “6 pointer,” think again. This incredible specimen would be a dream for any hunter. This freakish rack puts the word MASS in massive.
On March 12, 2017, NewsOK reported a truly amazing deer was harvested this past fall and the photo has been spreading around social media like wildfire.
Brad Julian, Jr. started hunting on his family farm in Eastern Oklahoma only five years ago. Over that time, he had seen images of a crazy-looking buck on his trail camera.
The problem is that the animal was nocturnal, so it had never come close to offering a shot in the daylight until a few months ago.
In the second gun season, Julian, Jr. was sitting in his blind when this monster came by following a doe. He knew it was a big deer, but he wasn’t sure it was the same buck.
After he shot with his rifle and walked up to the buck, he was overcome with emotion.
I don’t know if it really sunk in until he brought the skull mount to get measured at the Backwoods Hunting and Fishing Expo in Oklahoma last week.
George Moore scores bucks for Boone and Crockett. Sitting at the hunting show booth, measuring bucks all day, he was shocked when Brad walked up with this amazing whitetail deer skull. According to the article, Moore went on to say:
“I thought he was bringing us the head of a dinosaur.
I’ve scored somewhere between 2,000 and 3,000 deer in my lifetime. No doubt this is the most unique deer I have ever scored.”
The massive buck had a 223 gross score and still netted a very high 216 1/8.
Technically its not a 6-pointer because their a numerous stickers that score. However, once the buck gets officially certified by Boone and Crockett it will be the largest mainframe 3×3 in the record book.
This has been a heck of a year for the whitetail record books as the potential world record non-typical whitetail buck was also shot this year.
And one more thing to blow your mind. This was Brad’s first buck ever!
Hate to tell him, but you just don’t see many unique monster bucks like this one. It will likely be the biggest buck he’ll ever harvest and he’s not going to see anything like that again.
Chances are good that it could be decades before anyone sees a 3×3 whitetail even remotely close to this gnarly beast.
