Man Comes Face-to-Face with a Wolf, and the Result is Not What You’d Expect

This particular fellow decides to pet a Grey Wolf in the wild. He’s either the world’s bravest man or biggest idiot.

Man’s best friend is said to have originated from a “Wolf-like” ancestor to the Grey Wolf that our hunter-gatherer ancestors struck a deal with some 40,000 years ago.

We can bet that man’s first attempt at domesticating such a creature likely didn’t go as smoothly as that which we see in this video.

It’s hard to believe, but the Grey Wolf was nearly driven to extinction as conflict with humans occurred over livestock.  According to Mission: Wolf, today there are over 4,000 wolves in the wild.  Despite what you see in this video, it is not recommended that you go looking for a wolf as a pet.  Besides being a pretty bad idea, most states have laws restricting the ownership of wolves and wolf mixes.

Although it is unclear whether this particular canine had experienced human interaction before, you can quickly deduce that he loves a good belly rub.  We can bet you were likely expecting pure carnage rather than the “warm cuddlies” from this video, so we apologize for that…. but isn’t he cute?
