The species, also known as the common dolphinfish (not related to dolphins), have a healthy population, and are fun to catch.

Mahi mahi are found in temperate to subtropical climates, waters averaging 83 degrees Fahrenheit. The fish live near the surface and can grow to about 29 pounds. It’s exciting to see the strike and watch the fish fight at the end of the line.
