Since when does a hawksbill turtle fall in love with a man in diving gear?
A platform diver in the Gulf of Thailand just got the surprise proposal of his life in the form of a sea turtle. Even when you’re a hundred meters below the surface of the ocean, the language of love is understood.
Here’s what an amorous turtle looks like once she’s fallen for your scuba tank:
The hawksbill turtle is found mostly in the tropic regions of the Indian and the Pacific Oceans, but are known as a resident in the Atlantic Ocean as well. Unfortunately they are listed as a critically endangered species and are protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.
Maybe the fact that they seem to be one of the most loving creatures in the sea is part of the reason that they are disappearing. This diver appeared to be a bit shocked by the turtle’s appearance and even gave it a bit of a shove at first, but it seemed to be more of a “holy crap” moment than anything else.
It was nice to see the diver give back a little bit of the turtle’s love and send her on her way.
