White sturgeon fishing on the Fraser River in British Columbia can yield some mighty big fish.
Sturgeon fishing is a sport that takes great stamina and fortitude. Hooking into one of these monsters is tantamount to reeling in a truck. With an average size of 30 to 100 pounds, a normal size fish would be the fight of a lifetime.
Now try landing one that might weigh as much as a VW!
That is a huge white sturgeon, folks! The Fraser River is known for its sturgeon fishing and this is a big one. Fighting such a large dinosaur has got to take a little of the wind out of you; well done to this man and his guide for landing and releasing this one.
I went to CSG Network for a moment and crunched a few numbers: If you go by 148-inch length (over) an estimated 48-inch girth it comes out to about 525 pounds, which is still a monster! Unfortunately, I’m not convinced that fish weighs over one thousand pounds by their estimate.
Does that white sturgeon really weigh in at around 1,100 pounds like they say?
