Could hiding behind a YETI Rambler mug protect you from a speeding .22 caliber bullet?
YouTube is full of different videos and channels of people shooting different objects with various guns and ammo to see what will happen. From body armor and bulletproof glass to light bulbs and gummy bears, there doesn’t seem to be anything that someone out there isn’t willing to record themselves shooting. That list now includes the YETI Rambler mug.
The YETI Rambler mug features four layers of stainless steel, so it doesn’t seem entirely far-fetched that it might hold up pretty well against a .22 caliber round. Check out the video to see the surprising results of the test.
YouTuber 22plinkster is the guy who decided to put the YETI Rambler mug to the test. He takes aim at one of the stainless steel mugs with a Smith and Wesson M&P .22 Compact and 36 grain Federal Champion ammunition.
It is pretty remarkable that the YETI Rambler mug in the video managed to catch the .22 bullet inside of itself. The four layers of stainless steel were enough to slow the bullet down so that upon impact with the back end of the mug, the bullet could only make a dent.
However, as 22plinkster says in the video, it would still be a terrible idea to make body armor out of the mug. It is certainly best suited to keeping your favorite beverage either cold or hot!
