If you’ve ever wanted to know how to skin a black bear and make a rug, then this video is for you.
Watch as Steven Rinella and Paul Neess demonstrate how to skin a black bear is a few easy-to-follow steps.
This black bear was gutted just up to the ribs before they started filming, they also had the bear’s rear legs cut from the pads to the pelvis. In addition, skinning cuts were made from the pad, through the armpit, and all the way to the brisket.
When making cuts you want to come up from underneath the hide, and when you’re ready to remove the skin slowly peel the hide back, “like you’re slowly pulling back the sheet on a bed.”
Since the skin won’t stretch over the head just cut unto the ears and then sever the head.
Now that you know how to skin a black bear you’ll be extra prepared to make a great trophy. Tell your friends about this video, or just brag and tell them you did it all yourself.
