Bass this big don’t happen often!
A largemouth bass of epic proportions has been caught out of Lake Wohlford, near San Diego, California. Bass this big don’t come often and for the angler in the below photos, this is the biggest one of this life.
Greg Springer has been chasing this fish for several weeks after first seeing it chase a bait a few weeks ago. After several attempts and few near hook ups later, he finally was able to convince her to strike a 3:16 Lure Company Kokanee Glide Bait. What makes this story even more incredible is the fact that he caught it from shore.
As you can see above, this photo was posted to Springer’s Instagram account a few days ago. After this photo was published, another angle of this monster 16 pound bass was quick to follow.
I just feel like I hit the big bass lottery! I want to give a huge THANK YOU to @arrr_block for pushing me and helping me push the limits of swimbait fishing. Also another huge thank you to Mickey Ellis over at @316lure for giving me the opportunity to give these baits a test run! #BigBassNightmare #TeamNightmare #teamsixteen #316kokaneeglide #BassKnuckles #BandOfBrothers #SkinnerRods #PosseApproved #WorkingClassZero #DestinedToFail
What a hoss and truly an incredible fish! Congrats Mr. Springer on catching a fish of lifetime. However, after boating your recent 12 pounder, pictured below, we all have a feeling you have your eyes set on even bigger fish.
I’m heading to San Diego in July. Perhaps I’ll bring along a rod and lob a few casts into Wohlford while I’m there.
What’s the worst that could happen?
