The last male white rhino in the world is kept safe by his own personal armed guards.
Meet Sudan, the last male northern white rhino in the world. Sadly, he is near the end of his life.
He’s living out his final days in the comfort and security of Kenya’s Ol Pejeta conservancy with 24/7 armed guards to keep him safe from poachers.
Sudan lived in captivity for most of his life, but now he gets to enjoy a more natural habitat. The threat of poachers call for drastic measures. I’m glad to see some hard and tangible action being taken to combat poaching.
All attempts to have Sudan breed with the female rhinos at the conservancy have failed thus far. Thankfully they are looking at other options in a last-ditch effort to save the white rhino from extinction. Let’s hope they are able to get some of them to work.
