How to Practice Transitioning from Rifle to Pistol on the Range

Learn how to conduct smooth transitions from rifle to pistol and a skill that will save your life.

Kyle Lamb of Viking Tactics teaches and demos smooth transitions from rifle to pistol on the range with dry-drills and live fire.

A great tutorial and a skill that is hammered home into special operations soldiers during their weapons training and by police special weapons teams.

It is a critical drill for when that rifle has a stoppage or runs dry when engaging bad guys at close range. Going to your secondary and doing a smooth transition is going to get you back in the fight and the time to sort out the rifle is when out of immediate threat and ideally with a partner providing cover after the gun fight.

If your profession has you carry both a carbine and hand-gun practice these skills in a graduated manner, starting from dry drills and working your way up. If it is a question of your life and your teams’ safety invest in professional training. You would be hard pressed to find a better instructor than Kyle Lamb with years of Special Operations experience under his belt.
