If you want to shoot a tank in Texas, raise your hand.
Face it, you’ve woken up from dreams in which you’re behind the controls of a massive tank, driving it through obstacles and blowing targets to smithereens with the heavy gun attached to it.
Believe it or not, there is a place where you can actually drive and shoot a tank, and it’s located at the Ox Ranch in Uvalde, Texas.
Think of it as a living history museum. Instead of looking at pictures, watching film strips, and maybe seeing an actual item behind glass or ropes, you can literally sit inside a Sherman tank, blast a round out of a Russian T-34/85 medium tank, and cruise around in a German SD KFZ 251 Armored Half-Track.
There are a ton of packages that include driving and shooting experiences in these authentic tanks (may we suggest the Sherman “Unleash the Fury” package?), and a wide range of package add-ons to customize the time you spend driving tanks.
Oh, and by the way, you can even crush a car or two with one of these machines, if that’s what you’re in to.
The fun doesn’t stop with tanks, because Ox Ranch is home to a ton of weaponry, each one unique and tough to find accessible to the public anywhere else. In fact, the M4A2E8 Sherman tank at the ranch is the only fully functional tank of its kind still in existence.
Keep in mind that there’s really no other place in the world with so many tanks at your disposal, and if driving one is what you’re after, it’s silly to look anywhere other than Ox Ranch.
