This tired squirrel was treading water and running out of time. Luckily, a kind-hearted kayaker came along and saved the day.
A kayaker, surveying the raging floodwaters of the Meramec River in Fenton, Missouri, came across a soaking wet squirrel that was in need of a helping hand.
With the swollen current pulling the struggling squirrel down, Tony Weiss used his paddle – then kayak – to help guide the frightened animal to safety.
Although we often think about how flooding affects humans, we often forget the struggles it creates for all in the animal world.
Nice to see such compassion in the form of a kayaker. Let’s just hope the squirrel stayed put in this tree until the raging waters receded!
